Captain America: Civil War – Zemo’s Plan

This is sort of a collaborative piece. When I initially watched Captain America: Civil War soon after its theatrical release I didn’t really have my thinking hat on. Over the last year or so though, many things about its plot and other story elements that don’t seem to add up when you stop and think about them have been made known to me, both by others and through my own self-discovery. I’ve had quite a few back-and-forths with a number of people about this movie and whether it really makes sense or not (mainly this gentleman and this chap), and now I can’t help but share some of the findings.

Two Perspectives on Shaolin Soccer

Shaolin Soccer is a Chinese sports comedy film directed by Stephen Chow. He’s been behind a number of other movies under similar tones (and perhaps even ones that are more serious in nature), like Kung Fu Hustle, and… well, that’s all I’ve watched from him so far, so I can’t personally vouch for any of his other works. (Although I am interested in checking out more of his filmography.)

Alright, let’s get into some of the good in From Dusk Till Dawn. (For my spoiler-free impressions of the movie, check out my previous post. Apparently the name has become a franchise, so I suppose I should clarify that I am solely referring to the 1996 film by Robert Rodriguez. And I’m going to be throwing out details that you might consider major spoilers here, so there’s your warning for that.)

From Dusk Till Dawn

I rewatched From Dusk Till Dawn recently. Last October was the first time I’d ever seen it, but I had heard about it for years and already knew the twist going in, so a big part of the surprise factor had been obliterated for me before I had a chance. (My friend didn’t though, and he was amusingly shocked. Don’t worry, I won’t spoil that here, and I’ll give a heads up for anything I consider spoiler warning-worthy.)
